Core Configurator 2.0 (x64)
We are pleased to announce the latest version of Core Configurator built and designed for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Core edition!
It is completely open source so it can be amended and change to fit your requirements, this version has been a year in the making and has been written in powershell with a reference to Winforms so that a GUI format is displayed.

Windows 2008 RODC read only domain controller deployment

at least 1 Win2k8 DC, forest functional level min. 2003
win2k8 has to have the PDC emulator role ( FSMO )
prepare the forest, adprep /forestprep ( must be run on schema master )
prepare the domain, adprep /domainprep ( must be run on infrastructure master )
prepare the domain, adprep /rodcprep
adprep is found on the windows 2008 DVD, and off course run it from a elevated command prompt
note : adprep is only necessary if we are introducing a win2k8 server in a win2k3 domain
RODC’s can be ether a core or full installation.

change windows 2008 active directory database location

ntdsutil
activate instance ntds
files
info ( to check where the DB files are located )
create directory’s for the DB and log files
mkdir d:\NTDS-Dbase
mkdir d:\NTDS-Logs
ntdsutil
activate instance ntds
files
move db to d:\NTDS-Dbase
movelogs to d:\NTDS-Logs
