how to : linux redhat up2date

up2date configuration:

login as root,
and issue the following command:

up2date –configure
ENTER
7 ENTER
C ENTER

24 ENTER
C ENTER
ENTER

What the above command does is it will remove “kernel” from the skip package list, and hence, everything, including the kernel can now be upgraded automatically.

create a tar file, backup directory

tar -cf backup.tar directory/

exclude update using yum
